Built by an independent childfree Indian, with no funding and no affiliations.

Method

Every figure on this site comes from a published source, and the source sits next to the figure. Where a source does not report a number for a state, the site leaves that number out rather than estimating it. Opinion is labelled as opinion.

How the data is sourced

State and national figures come from the Sample Registration System (SRS) and the fifth National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5, 2019-21). They are different instruments and are never merged. The methods page lists each source with its year and link. None of these figures measures childfree by choice: they are demographic context. A separate anonymous community survey is planned and will be published with its full method.

Corrections

If you find an error, post it in the WhatsApp community with the page address and the source you are checking against. Corrections are made openly and dated.

Community

There is a pan-India WhatsApp community for childfree Indians from every state and city.
